Vanessa Cantu, Associate
Vanessa’s practice focuses on civil litigation matters, with an emphasis on insurance defense and commercial disputes. She represents individual and corporate clients in a wide variety of subject matters, including personal injury defense, premises liability, professional liability, business disputes, and breach of contract. Vanessa is committed to understanding and meeting her clients’ needs and works tirelessly to advocate for them at every stage of the litigation process. Whether she is handling a pre-suit investigation or an appeal or original proceeding in an appellate court, Vanessa strives to strategically and effectively find the best solutions for her clients.
While in law school, Vanessa gained valuable insight into federal courts by serving as a judicial intern for the Honorable Marina Garcia Marmolejo in the Southern District of Texas, and as a legal intern for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas. She also contributed to the St. Mary’s Law Journal as a staff writer, worked as her evidence professor’s research assistant, and participated as a member of the St. Mary’s External Advocacy Program Moot Court team, earning recognitions for her written advocacy skills at state and national competitions. After receiving her J.D., Vanessa worked for a civil litigation firm in San Antonio handling complex civil litigation matters and mass tort cases before joining GCAK in 2021.
